TRIFOLION, Echternach
Conductor: Roby Schiltz
With timpani, trumpets, and a big choir, the Ambitus Echternach Choir and Estro Armonico will fill the Trifolion on 17 October with the resplendent sound world of two royal courts.
Marc‑Antoine Charpentier's Te Deum was created at the court of Louis XIV. Its radiant Prelude is widely known as the ceremonial signature theme of Eurovision. In 1727, George Frideric Handel composed his Coronation Anthems for the coronation of George II. "Zadok the Priest" has resounded at every British coronation since and inspired the anthem of the UEFA Champions League. From a slowly intensifying introduction emerges the majestic entry of the full choir – a truly spine‑tingling moment.
Under the direction of Roby Schiltz, Gerlinde Sämann, Jeff Mack, Benoît Porcherot, and Jean‑Paul Majerus perform the solo parts. Admission is free for children under the age of 13, making this festive evening a wonderful opportunity for families to experience great music together.
