The 2025 autumn season opens with a series of concerts held as part of the “Heritage Days”, organized and supported by the Ministry of Culture. Works by Mozart, enriched with stylistic elements of the Rococo era, will be performed in venues connected to the 13th century. The concert will include explanations to help the audience better understand the Rococo style. In early October, the orchestra will accompany the Municipal Choir of St. Cecilia from Wiltz and the “Chor der Stadt Schongau” from Bavaria, under the baton of Claude Windeshausen. The program features Mendelssohn’s Lauda Sion, Bizet’s Te Deum, and a lively Allegro for organ and orchestra by Guilmant. At the end of October, a unique performance combining dance, storytelling, and music will take place in Dudelange, directed and conceived by Jeannot Weimerskirch. The legendary tale Peter and the Wolf will be brought to life in Luxembourgish by young dancers from the dance school Danse-Elancé. The evening will also highlight two promising young soloists from Schifflange — violinist Alexia Ouyang and trumpeter Kenji Tex — along with a work by local composer Robert Conrad. A strong and fruitful partnership with the Conservatory of Luxembourg City will take shape throughout the season through various initiatives: a joint choir concert in November, several performances with award-winning students, concerts with the conservatory’s mixed choir, and workshops with the conducting, composition, and orchestration classes throughout the school year. The Advent season begins with the concert At the Threshold of Advent performed by the Cathedral Choir under the direction of Marc Dostert. On the second Sunday of Advent, Mozart’s Requiem will be performed during the traditional Spiritual Concert, featuring Sängerfreed Bëtebuerg conducted by Nancy Back-Kelsen. On the third Sunday of Advent, excerpts from Stella Natalis by Karl Jenkins will be heard at the Sacré-Cœur Church in Arlon, performed by Mozaïk voices under Jean Lambert. The season concludes with Karl Kempter’s Pastoral Mass sung by the choir of the Basilica of Echternach under Marc Juncker, and finally, the traditional Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at Saint Michael’s Church in Luxembourg City, conducted by Gerry Welter.
