Ceremony to mark the 80th Anniversary of the Bombing of Bettembourg

We cordially invite you to join us on 11 May 2024 for the solemn commemoration ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Bettembourg. This special event will take place in the church in Bettembourg and will honour the history and heritage of our town through a selection of meaningful musical performances.

Programme:
Canon by Johann Pachelbel
A timeless piece that opens the evening with its harmonic simplicity and emotional depth.

"Se pieta" by G.F. Handel
Sung by the outstanding soprano Christine Goethals, an expression of the deepest human emotions.

Adagio from the Clarinet Concerto KV 622 by W.A. Mozart
Performed by Luc Blasius, whose masterly clarinet tones emphasise the contemplative nature of the evening.

Solveig's Song by Edvard Grieg
Christine Goethals performs once again to touch the hearts of the audience with this moving piece from the Peer Gynt Suite.

National Ceremony at 19:38
With the National Sonnerie followed by the anthem "Ons Heemescht", which symbolises our collective memory and national identity.

"Adagio" from the harp concerto op. 4 no. 2 by J.B. Krumpholtz
A moving piece, played by the talented harpist Dina Nimax, concludes the musical programme.
